Big Sandy Creek Bass
Club and
The
Arc of the Capital Area would like to thank all participants
and sponsors for making this tournament a success. We had
103 entries and paid out $9300.00 in prize money. We had a
lower than normal turnout this year due in part to the weather and the
fact that we had to reschedule the tournament due to flooding, but we
were fortunate enough to be able to contribute $2,400.00 to the Arc.
The day started with light rain, but after mid morning the rain
stopped and the rest of the day was enjoyable. Although the lake
was in bad shape from flooding, the fishing was better than expected.
Just ask Dale Read who took a check in 5 out of the 8 hours and placed
2nd overall. And ask Brandon Lee who took 1st place overall with
a 7.16.
A special thanks to Arnold Oil, A-Line Auto
Parts, and AC Delco for arranging the appearance of Jimmy Houston and
sponsoring the KIDFISH event. The free KIDFISH event was
open to the public and was a great avenue for the Arc to provide their
clients a way to enjoy the sport of fishing. Participants were
allowed to fish a stocked tank full of hungry catfish. Those who
caught fish were awarded trophies and received recognition for their
accomplishments. Jimmy Houston generously spent time with the
young folks at the KIDFISH tank and sure left memorable impressions.
Check out some of the
photos from the KIDFISH event.
A special thanks to Bass Champs for sponsoring
the flipping contest. The free flipping contest was open to
the public and all tournament contestants. Participants competed
for prizes by flipping their favorite lure into targets at different
point values. Jack Fountain took 1st place and won a free entry
to the first Bass Champs tournament of the 2005 season. Charles Whited took 2nd place and won a Shimano rod & reel combo donated by
Sportsman's Warehouse. Don Schuette and Ronny Maynard tied for
3rd and won a pair of X-Tools pliers donated by Bass Champs.
